Workshop description: The workshop will introduce Stim2Go, a powerful mobile neurostimulation system primary developed for non-invasive Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES). The body-worn stimulator uses a built-in inertial sensor to capture the patient’s motion in real time. With this biofeedback, stimulation patterns can be triggered to support patients during their movement execution. One outstanding feature is FES-assisted cycling using existing ergometers and cardio trainers, without the need for device modification or connection—simply by placing the stimulator on one thigh for detecting and supporting the cycling motion without time-consuming tuning. Therapists can use the app to create and customize programs and to assign them individually to patients. In clinics, teams of therapists can easily collaborate by sharing programs and statistics.

After two short introductory presentations, the hands-on workshop will delve into the mode of action of Stim2Go, focusing on FES-assisted cycling. The operation of the device will be demonstrated and can be exercised. Workshop participants will also learn the basics of the applied stimulation control.

In addition, upcoming novel applications of the device, such as inertial-sensor-based calibration and control of transcutaneous Spinal Cord Stimulation (tSCS) for treating multiple sclerosis and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), as well as the use of tSCS and FES for SCI rehabilitation in water, will be showcased live. These future functions are currently under development and clinical testing in Europe before certification. The workshop targets both clinicians and researchers and enables first-hand experience with this new innovative stimulation system.
